After a long 30-year wait, Liverpool were crowned champions on Thursday evening. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side were beaten by Chelsea handing the league to their opponents.
While Liverpool will no doubt be celebrating their achievement there will be one eye on next year’s campaign too. The Reds may not start the season as favourites, however, for a number of reasons.
Let’s take a look at the latest odds for next season.

This is how Betfair have priced up the top 10 in the market for next season:
|Manchester City||5/6 (1.83)|
|Manchester United||14/1 (15.0)|
Liverpool to Win the League Next Season 20/21 Odds
Jurgen Klopp and his red army have been threatening to win the league ever since the German took over. Now, Liverpool finally have their hands on the Premier League trophy. The Reds blew the competition away this year and thoroughly deserve their crown.
Liverpool will be savouring the moment for now and with such depth in their squad can be excited about what lies ahead. The Reds are deemed a 7/4 (2.75) with Betfair which looks like it could be decent value.
Although Klopp hasn’t yet hinted about who he may add to his squad, it looks as though he will hold onto many of his stars. Alisson has been the best goalkeeper in the league this season and is happy in England. Trent Alexander-Arnold looks set to be Liverpool’s right-back for many years to come and most other
African player of the year, Sadio Mane, is the only first-team player that has hinted about leaving the club. But after this incredible season, you wonder if he might just change his mind and stay.
Manchester City to Win the League Next Season 20/21 Odds
Pep’s side gave up their title with a bit of a whimper in the end. The league was really over before the turn of the year with Manchester City suffering a number of shock defeats. At the time of writing, Chelsea handed City their eighth league defeat of the season, seven more losses than rivals Liverpool.
In saying that, City are a side bursting with talent. Most Premier League sides would be happy with the players that sit on Pep’s bench most weekends, so they will be up for a title fight next year.
Manchester City are short-priced favourites with Betfair at 5/6 (1.83). At first glance, those odds seem very tight considering the gap this season. However, it should be noted that City are currently banned from Europe having broken financial fair play rules. The main focus would, therefore, be on the league.
Guardiola may have to consider that some of his stars will not be willing to stay without European football, and it may be hard to lure new talent. It will be interesting to see what will happen at Manchester City if their European ban is upheld and if their odds for next season should be so short. At the minute, it’s not something we would get behind.
Chelsea Third Favourites to Win the League Next Season
Frank Lampard has earned a lot of praise for the job he’s doing at Chelsea, and rightly so. However, the Blues have lacked a killer touch this season. Despite that, they are pushing for a top-four finish. In fact, it would be surprising if they didn’t secure a Champions League place.
On top of this campaign’s achievements, Chelsea are clearly building for the future. The signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech shows that Lampard knows where the weaknesses are within his team. If he get Chelsea scoring week in, week out then they have a more than decent chance of being title contenders.
They are priced at 10/1 (11.0) while bet365 have pushed them out to 16/1 (17.0). At those odds, they could be the team to back in next seasons campaign.
Premier League Winners 20/21 Outside Chances
Manchester United fans will fancy their chances for the 20/21 season with a couple of good displays since the league restarted. It’s hard to see them pushing the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City though, so even at 25/1 (26.0) with bet365 we don’t fancy backing them. In saying that, there are other options for betting on the Premier League winners. The odds could look good value in an each-way bet when those become available.
Jose Mourinho has a serious job on his hands with Spurs who are looking less likely to win any silverware soon. The London outfit have struggled this season and it’s hard to see them getting close to the top four, let alone win it. Their odds of 50/1 (51.0) with Betfair pretty much sum up their chances.
