Chelsea vs Manchester City – The Form Guide
Two second-half quickfire goals saved Chelsea’s blushes in their first game following the restart. Despite dominating Villa for most of the game, the Blues spurned several chances and found themselves behind at the break.
Scoring has been one of Lampard’s side weaknesses this season. They have scored the fewest goals of the top four, 23 less than Wednesday nights rivals. Chelsea’s attackers will need to be more clinical if they should get anything from this match.
This will be City’s third league game in eight days but given the number of changes Pep Guardiola made in the first two matches; they have the depth to cope. The light Blues put three passed Arsenal before five against Burnley with seven changes from the starting XI.
Of City’s eight goals, there have been five different goal scorers. They are a serious threat across the pitch with options in every position. Of course, Manchester United beat them just before the league broke off, so it is possible to stop them.
What is the Team News?
Tammy Abraham may step in for Olivier Giroud despite the big forward finding the net against Villa. Abraham will be able to run at the City defence and try to cause issues.
Mason Mount was man of the match against Villa and should retain his spot. Christian Pulisic came off the bench at half-time and made a huge impact including scoring the equaliser. We would expect him to start.
Jorginho is available again following a suspension.
Fikayo Tomori is a doubt having suffered a muscle pull and is not expected to feature.
Eric Garcia is expected to miss out following his collision with Ederson in the Arsenal game.
Sergio Aguero picked up a hamstring pull against Burnley. The club’s top scorer is likely ruled out for the remaining fixtures which is a huge blow.
Chelsea line-up: Arrizabalaga; James, Rudiger, Zouma, James; Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic; Mount, Pulisic, Abraham
Manchester City line-up: Ederson, Cancelo, Rodri, Laporte, Zinchenko, Sterling, Fernandinho, D Silva, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Jesus

Manchester City’s form sees them head to London as hot favourites. BoyleSports currently have the Manchester side priced at 4/5 (1.8) which despite their form seems short.

Chelsea vs Manchester City Score Prediction
Remarkably, across two games Ederson has face only one shot on target. Chelsea will be looking at how to break down the City backline to test the keeper.
This will be easier said than done. Chelsea have lost their last two league games against City scoring only once while conceding eight.
In saying that, the Blues did take the lead at the Etihad in the reverse of this fixture. Despite going on to lose 2-1.
We can see goals in this one. Chelsea are looking to cement their top-four place and City are in terrific form.
With this in mind, we’re going for a high scoring 3-2 win to City at 18/1 (19.0) with BoyleSports.
Chelsea vs Manchester City Tip
Chelsea had a chance to blow off the cobwebs against Aston Villa. It was clear that not some players were a little sluggish, but the likes of Pulisic and Mount look fresh.
Lampard will be looking to his young players to get off to a quick start to ensure City don’t’ get an early goal.
Once City get going they can be lethal, so attack may be the best form of defence. City, of course, are always dangerous going forward and even without Aguero leading the line, we think they’ll outscore their opponents.
