With 21 league goals and seven assists to his name this season, Timo Werner is regarded as one of Europe’s elite strikers. The 24-year-old forward has enjoyed four successful seasons at RB Leipzig but has been linked with a big-money move away from the East German side.

Werner has proved himself to be a prolific goal scorer and is a star of the future. He is certainly in demand and with a €52m buy-out clause could be a bargain for whoever he signs for.

Manchester United Old Trafford

Timo Werner Next Club Odds – 5 Most Likely Moves

Werner has shown interest in joining Liverpool with a few, less than subtle, hints. It’s not just the Reds who have caught his attention, however. Manchester United are another side heavily linked with the German International as are Barcelona. On the home front, Bayern Munich have also been buzzing around. So, where will he end up?

Timo Werner to Liverpool – Favourites to Sign Him

The prospect of playing for arguably the current best side in Europe is surely a tempting one for any player. Furthermore, Werner has spoken of his respect for manager Jurgen Klopp describing him as “the best coach in the world”. The youngster has caught the eye of Klopp and with his direct play and electric pace, could fit right into this Liverpool squad.

Why it might not happen? A number of factors. Liverpool isn’t keen on paying the release clause, despite it being relatively small in the current climate. Furthermore, they are not desperate for forwards. In Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane, the Reds boast one of the most formidable attacking line-ups in the world. With that in mind, Werner isn’t guaranteed to start every match.

Despite these complications, Liverpool lead the chase with the bookies. Betfair have them at a short 4/9 (1.44) to get Werner’s signature before the window closes.

Likelihood – Medium

Will Manchester United sign Timo Werner?

As well as Liverpool, thier fiercest rivals, Manchester United, are also said to be keen on signing Werner. A couple of years ago, a 21-year-old Werner said it was his dream to play in the Premier League, and that Manchester United would be one of the clubs he would love to play for. The Red Devils surely have the funds to buy Werner, but with a lack of Champions League football, he might be put off. On the other hand, unlike a move to Liverpool, Werner would be guaranteed to start. Marcus Rashford is the only other senior striker at the club, and United are looking to add a goalscorer. The re-build going on at United also excites Werner who could be remembered as a legend if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gets the players in, he wants.

It’s an interesting option, and one that could tempt the German to England. Currently judged a 6/1 (7.0) shot with Betfair it could be a value bet.

Likelihood – Medium

Werner to Barcelona Latest Odds

It’s no secret that Barcelona have been struggling lately. Since the departure of Neymar things have slowly started to go downhill. Ousmane Dembélé was the player brought in that was expected to be the future of the club. At an eye-watering price of €105m – he hasn’t delivered. He has been hampered with injuries, poor form, and a reported bad attitude. The Frenchman has netted only 12 goals for the Catalan giants since joining in 2017 and is set for an exit this summer.

Barcelona need to find a striker with Luis Suarez losing some of his pace. Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezzman have yet to find a grove together and a natural nine is needed. Werner fits the bill perfectly being both young, and a proven goal scorer. He carries less of a risk than Dembélé, especially with his attractive price tag.

Likelihood – slim

Bayern Munich to Lure Timo Werner – Latest

Munich are notorious for poaching key players away from fellow Bundesliga sides, but will Werner be next? The Bavarian giants were rumoured to be close to signing Werner last summer, but the move never materialised. Werner has enjoyed challenging his title rivals making a move that way seems unlikely.

Furthermore, Robert Lewandowski is their key man and has netted more goals than Werner this season. It would be hard to imagine Werner walking in and taking his place. Bar a shock move for Lewandowski this summer, we can’t see this one happening. And at 17/2 (9.5) wit Betfair, the odds suggest that too.
