Burnley vs Tottenham Premier League Preview: Betting Tips, Team News & Predictions – 07/03/2020

Sean Dyche's Burnley welcome Tottenham to Turf Moor looking to avenge a 5-0 thumping back in December. The Clarets are in a better place than they were then, enjoying a six-game unbeaten streak.

Spurs were knocked out of the FA Cup by Norwich on Wednesday night on penalties and will be hoping to find some attacking spar here. Jose Mourinho’s side have now lost their previous four games in all competitions.

Burnley vs Tottenham – The Form Guide

Burnley have climbed to ninth in the table with four wins in their last six league games. They have beaten the likes of Manchester United in that run, conceding only twice in the same period. There is currently only a two-point gap between them and Spurs meaning a victory here could see as high as 7th.

Back-to-back league defeats to Chelsea and Wolves have put a dent in Spurs top-four hopes. Mourinho’s side are without a recognised striker and with talk of Harry Kane leaving the club is a problem that needs to be fixed. In saying that, Spurs also have problems at the back. They have let in seven goals in three league games. Burnley will be looking to take advantage of that.

What is the Team News?

Harry Kane has caused more unrest around the Spurs dressing room with rumours circulating that he is ready to leave the club. It’s damage control time now for Mourinho who must look to fill the void in attack.

Dele Alli is expected to contribute more goals in the absence of Kane and Son Heung-min but hasn’t come good yet. He will most likely be in the starting XI. Youngster Troy Parrott may be given some game time here, but if he does it will most likely be from the bench.

Hugo Lloris has been ruled out of Spurs clash with Norwich on Wednesday and faces a late fitness test ahead of this one.

Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela are also sidelined for the clash.

Burnley are expected to welcome back striker Ashley Barnes and Johann Berg Gudmundsson on Saturday, although possibly only to the bench.

Also missing for the home side are Ben Gibson and Matt Lowton.

Other than that, Dyche has his full squad at his disposal.

Predicted Line-Ups

Burnley Predicted Line-up: Pope; Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor; Westwood, Cork, Hendrick, McNeil; Rodriguez, Wood

Tottenham Predicted Line-up

Burnley vs Tottenham Latest Odds

Spurs have won five from seven in the clubs last two meetings so the 6/4 (2.5) for them to win at BetVictor should be quite attractive. This season, however, it’s been hard to back Spurs. They have won only three of their last 14 Premier League games which suggests the odds are big for a reason.

Burnley are still considered underdogs at 15/8 (2.87) with BetVictor. Considering their good streak and Spurs poor form, it is certainly interesting. The most attractive outcome in our opinion is, however, the 23/10 (3.3) for the draw.

Burnley vs Tottenham Score Prediction

Spurs have been slacking at the back lately, and with Burnley’s clinical finishing of late, could be in trouble. In saying that, Spurs have plenty of quality in their squad and should be able to grind out some sort of a result here.

You get the impression that Mourinho may even settle for a draw here, so a 1-1 correct score at 5/1 (6.0) is our selection.

Burnley vs Tottenham Tip

Burnley won this fixture last season by a 2-1 scoreline with goals from Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes. Both those strikers should be fit for this one and will cause a lot of problems, particularly from set plays.

That victory was the first time that the Clarets had gotten the better of their London rivals since 2010. And Spurs did beat them 5-0 only a couple of months ago.

We think that they will balance each other out here, so a draw is what we fancy. In terms of our best bet we also think that both teams will find a way to score, so we’re backing a score draw.

Best bet: Draw and both teams to score at 7/2 (4.5) with BetVictor
