Tottenham and Norwich battle it out in an all Premier League FA Cup clash on Wednesday night. Spurs have lost ground in the race for a top-four spot finish having lost out on Saturday to Wolves. The FA Cup could offer some respite for Jose Mourinho’s men and looks to be their best shot at silverware this season.
Norwich are rooted to the bottom of the table and should enjoy the pressure away from a league game. They beat Leicester 1-0 on Friday night so have had two extra days to recover. Can they make it count in the capital? Check out our predictions here.

Tottenham vs Norwich – The Form Guide
Spurs have lost their last three games in all competitions including last weekend’s 3-2 loss at home to Wolves. Mourinho has bemoaned his side's lack of strikers and the Portuguese manager seems to have run out of attacking ideas. They have slipped to seventh in the table, five points behind Chelsea in fifth.
Their route to the fifth round of the FA Cup has also been a lucky one. They beat Southampton in the last round 3-2 in a replay. The Saints had plenty of chances to kill the game off, but the Lilywhites edged the win with an 87th-minute penalty.
Norwich pulled off a surprise win on Friday night to give them renewed hope of Premier League survival. They are still bottom of the pack with 21 points and six points from safety but that win will give them belief.
The Canaries beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor in the previous round, which is no easy feat. They also put four past Preston North End in round three so are certainly full of confidence in the cup.
What is the Team News?
Dele Alli is expected to be the one to step up in terms of scoring in the absence of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. However, the England International spurned a couple of decent chances on Sunday. We expect he will start on Wednesday but will need to up his game if he wants to push for a spot at Euro 2020.
Moussa Sissoko continues his rehabilitation and Hugo Lloris will also miss out with injury.
Ryan Sessegnon is unavailable through injury too, meaning Spurs bench isn’t looking very strong.
Teenager Adam Idah has proved to be a star for Norwich in this competition, grabbing a deserved hat-trick in round three. With Teemu Pukki back to fitness, however, we expect he will start on the bench.
Onel Hernandez, Sam Byram and Timm Klose are all sidelined with long-term injuries for Daniel Farke’s side. Centre-back Christoph Zimmermann is also a big doubt as he recovers from a calf problem.
Tottenham Predicted Line-up: Gazzaniga; Aurier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Tanganga, Davies; Lo Celso, Fernandes, Alli; Moura, Bergwijn
Norwich Predicted Line-up: Krul; Aarons, Hanley, Godfrey, Lewis; Tettey, Trybull, Buendia, Stiepermann, Cantwell; Pukki
Tottenham vs Norwich Latest Odds
Spurs will start as short favourites for this one, Betfair have them priced at 8/13 (1.62) to win in the 90 and 2/7 (1.29) to qualify. We suspect this game will be decided without the need for extra-time but the (1.62) is hard to back with Tottenham’s indifferent form.
Norwich are deemed a 4/1 (5.0) shot which is slightly more appealing given their recent win. And the draw is available at 7/1 (4.5) with Betfair.
Tottenham vs Norwich Score Prediction
Three of Spurs' last five games have ended in a 3-2 scoreline while Norwich have been keeping it tighter. The Canaries have kept two clean sheets in their last four league games, half of what Spurs record is for the entire season (4).
It’s always a rocky affair when these two sides meet. They have played twice this season producing seven goals in those meetings. A 2-2 daw at Carrow Road was followed with a 2-1 Spurs win. Tottenham won the previous two encounters by 3 goals to nil, but without their key attackers, we can’t see them scoring that many.
In saying that, they should still be too strong for Norwich, who will likely be happier to focus on the league.
Therefore, we’re going with a 2-1 correct score to Spurs at 6/1 (7.0) with Betfair.
Tottenham vs Norwich Tip
Mourinho is a coach known for his defensive tactics, but at Spurs, he’s had to adopt a different approach. This is mainly due to his stars being attack-minded players. In the league, they have conceded 39 times (the joint highest in the top 10) and managed to keep only four clean sheets. His side does score goals though, although not often pretty ones.
Norwich can also score and have claimed a couple of big-name scalps this season already. However, they have the worst goal difference in the league and have conceded a whopping 51 times.
With this in mind, we think that both teams will get on the score and Spurs will win.
