Arsenal vs West Ham – The Form Guide
Arteta has led Arsenal to back-to-back league wins for the first time as their manager. It is also the second time the Gunners have managed that this season, with the opening two games of the season being the other occasion. If the Spaniard makes it three, Arsenal could climb to seventh in the league.
The Gunners are on a decent run domestically. They have yet to taste defeat in 2020 and have kept three clean sheets from seven league games. The same amount they managed for the previous 20. However, they were knocked out of the Europa League by Olympiakos on Thursday and will be hurting.
West Ham ended a seven-game winless run with a 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday. The Hammers put on a good display with January signing Jarrod Bowen putting in a man of the match performance on his debut. In winning, David Moyes's side lifted themselves out of the drop zone into 16th.
They are far from safe though. West Ham are only two points ahead of Aston Villa on 19th and are joint on points with Watford and Bournemouth in 17th and 18th respectively. The Hammers arguably have the tougher run with games against Arsenal, Wolves, and Spurs all coming up.
What is the Team News?
It took £20 million to pry Jarred Bowen away from Hull in January, but if his performance last week is anything to go by – he is worth it. He will surely be in the starting XI for Moyes.
Ryan Fredericks has been ruled until April following an operation on his shoulder. It is not clear when Jack Wilshere will return from his recent surgery.
Tomas Soucek is out until towards the end of the month with a groin injury, while Andriy Yarmolenko is also unavailable.
Arteta has a few injuries still to contend with. Calum Chambers is out for the season, and it’s not yet clear if Sead Kolasinac will be back much before the end of the season with a shoulder injury.
Kieran Tierney is on the mend and looks to be in contention for a return soon. This match will likely come a little bit too soon for him, but he could possibly make the bench.
Lucas Torreira picked up a foot injury and is currently in a small cast. He will be assessed later in the week but looks likely to be ruled out for several weeks.
Arsenal Predicted Line-up: Leno, Bellerin, Mustafi, Luiz, Papastathopoulos, Ceballos, Ozil, Xhaka, Aubameyang, Pepe, Nketiah
West Ham Predicted Line-up: Fabianski, Cresswell, Ogbonna, Diop, Ngakia, Noble, Fornals, Antonio, Rice, Bowen, Haller
Arsenal vs West Ham Latest Odds
STS have Arsenal at 8/15 (1.54) to get the win. While this is short, the Gunners have been in decent form and will be looking to make amends for their dramatic loss in the Europa League. In saying that, they have won only six of their last 14 home league games.
West Ham are priced at 5/1 (6.0) which looks quite appealing. This could be a good chance for the Hammers to get at least a point. Arsenal have drawn the most games in the league this season with 13 of their 27 games ending in a stalemate.
If you reckon that they’ll make that an even 14, STS will give you odds of 7/2 (4.5).
Arsenal vs West Ham Score Prediction
The Gunners have scored seven goals across their last two league games including three over Everton. It was an impressive victory in which captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shone. He contributed two goals bringing his Premier League goals tally to 49 in 74 appearances. He is clearly the danger man for Arsenal and will be looking to make up for a big miss mid-week.
West Ham have also been scoring plenty of goals. They have netter eight in their last four games which includes two against Liverpool at Anfield. The Londoners will see this match as their best chance at scoring some more points and will likely go all-out attack.
Both sides have managed to keep only six clean sheets a piece this season, with this in mind, we’re fancying goals.
A 2-2 draw at 13/1 (14.0) with STS is our selection.
Arsenal vs West Ham Tip
Arsenal are the clear favourites here, and we are tempted to back them, but they have let punters down all season. 13 draws indicate that it’s too much of a betting risk to back them, especially at such short odds.
Aubameyang will be a big threat to the dodgy West Ham defence which is why he’s a short 8/13 (1.62) to score anytime. Again, this feels too short to get behind.
Instead, we’re looking for a pattern for our best bet. Both sides have been guilty of throwing away points from winning positions by conceding late goals. Therefore we reckon if one team takes the lead, they will be pegged back by full-time.
