Tottenham vs Wolves – The Form Guide

Spurs have been enduring a really mixed season. They lost 2-1 to Chelsea last week ending a run of three straight victories. The loss, however, was coming. Jose Mourinho’s side have been riding their luck lately and without key man, Harry Kane are short of attacking prowess.

The Londoners have won only 11 games all season, almost half the amount they had won at this stage last year (20). They are 20 points behind where they were, but in saying that they are still in with a shout of grabbing a Champions League spot. A victory over Wolves here could see them come into within one point of Chelsea in fourth.

Wolves are also pushing for a European spot in the league. They are currently eight in the table with 39 points, only one less than Spurs. On top of that, they have lost only six games in the league this season, three fewer than this weekend’s rivals.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have, however, been troubled with inconsistency, and bad luck of late. A 0-0 draw with Leicester really ought to have been a 1-0 win to Wolves with Wily Boly deemed to be a toe offside for his goal. Wolves have picked themselves up however and have every chance of grabbing all three points from the capital.

What is the Team News?

Mourinho has described his injury-hit side as being in the worst possible position. Top scorers Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min are both ruled out for considerable periods with injuries. There is no out and out striker he can call on which is a real problem.

Dele Alli has fallen out of favour again after a couple of lacklustre displays. Giovanni Lo Celso will likely be picked ahead of him here.

Wolves, of course, play Espanyol on Thursday evening, but ahead of that tie, they have very few injury concerns. Jonny Otto is out with an ankle injury and at present is the only Wolves players with a problem.

Raul Jiminez got on the scoresheet at the weekend as did in form Diogo Jota. Both will be expected to start against Spurs.

Predicted Line-Ups

Tottenham Predicted Line-up: Lloris; Tanganga, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies; Dier, Winks; N’dombele, Lo Celso, Bergwijn; Lucas Moura

Wolves Predicted Line-up: Patricio, Swiss, Coady, Boly, Jonny, Neves, Moutinho, Doherty, Traore, Jiminez, Jota

Tottenham vs Wolves Latest Odds

Despite Spurs indifferent form and lack of striker – they are favourites for the game with Betfair; they are currently priced at 13/10 (2.3). As a result, Wolves are looking attractive at 2/1 (3.0). The reflection on odds is likely based on the fact that Spurs have home advantage and Wolves have only a 2-day turnaround from their tie in Spain. Still, we think 2/1 to the away side looks attractive.

Santo’s side have drawn an incredible 12 games in the league this season – if you fancy them to make that an unlucky 13, you’ll get 11/5 (3.2) with Betfair.

Tottenham vs Wolves Score Prediction

Spurs beat Wolves 2-1 in the reverse of this fixture back in December with Jan Vertonghen popping up with an injury-time winner. It was harsh on the home side who will be looking for revenge. And Wolves are capable of snatching it here, they were 3-1 winner last season in this fixture and we expect them to at least score here.

Mourinho’s side are looking a little toothless in attack which might make them retreat. The Portuguese manager knows he cannot afford to lose the match however so could be vulnerable if Wolves score. The Wanderers seem to be back to scoring form following two goalless Premier League games and they have recorded four clean sheets in a row.

With this in mind, a 2-0 win to the away side at 13/1 (14.0) with Betfair could be a good value bet.

Tottenham vs Wolves Tip

We expect Wolves to win this match. Their forwards seem to be firing which is a complete contrast to Spurs at the moment.

Of course, Mourinho is likely to have a masterplan up his sleeve and could very well get the win in front of his fans. And his side are the favourites to win this match.

Because we don't trust Spurs, either way, we’re going to go with a goalscorer bet. Diogo Jota has been in excellent form lately, we’re going to follow that for our tip.

Best bet: Diogo Jota to score anytime at 3/1 (4.0) with Betfair
