Arsenal were held to their fourth straight draw against Burnley last time out in the league. The Gunners are floating mid-table and are closer in points to the relegation zone than they are a Champions League spot.
Newcastle come into this on the back of three draws in their last four league games, and on the same number of points as their London rivals. Can either side take control of this match and grab all three points? Find our predictions here and all the latest team news.

Arsenal vs Newcastle – The Form Guide
Four straight draws mean that Arsenal haven’t made any ground up on the teams stuttering above them. A 0-0 draw tie Burnley in their last match was a point well earned, but not deserved from the Londoners. Since Mikel Arteta has taken over at his former club, overall play has been better, but results have not.
A 2-0 win over Manchester United five games ago looked to be a turning point, but the Gunners weren’t able to build on that. They have netted 32 goals this season so far, 19 less than they had managed after 25 games last year. Top scorer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back in action for this one, and Arteta will be relying on his star player to make the difference here.
On the other hand, Newcastle will be quite happy with how their season is going. They are seven points clear of safety, and Premier League survival looks to be guaranteed. The Magpies had trouble scoring early in the campaign but have started to find their way. A 1-0 win over Chelsea in January showed they have a good mentality and deserve their spot.
In saying that, they can be sloppy. Steve Bruce’s side have been sucker-punched more than once this season due to poor defending. They have conceded 36 times this season and will need to tighten up at the back to get a result away to Arsenal.
What is the Team News?
Arteta is sweating over the fitness of Cedric Soarer, Sean Kolasinac and Reiss Nelson, and Bukayo Sakaahead of this match. All three are in contention to make it but doubts.
Left-back Kieran Tierney is back in training but isn’t expected to return until next month.
The only long-term absentee for Arsenal is Calum Chambers who is ruled out for the season.
Steve Bruce, on the other hand, has the longest injury list of all the Premier League clubs.
Jetro Willems, Paul Dummett, Jack Colback, Andy Carroll, Emil Krafth, Dwight Gayle, Yoshinori Muto, Javi Manquillo and Jonjo Shelvey are all ruled out. Most, if not all of these players would be first-choice picks so it’s a real blow to the club.
Furthermore, record signing Miguel Almiron is a doubt after suffering from stiff muscles. Similarly, Joelinton is also a doubt.
Arsenal Predicted Line-up: Leno; Bellerin, Mustafi, David Luiz, Kolasinac; Guendouzi, Xhaka; Martinelli, Ozil, Aubameyang; Lacazette
Newcastle Predicted Line-up: Dubravka; Yedlin, Fernandez, Lascelles, Clark, Rose; Almiron, Hayden, Bentaleb, Saint-Maximin; Joelinton
Arsenal vs Newcastle Latest Odds
Arsenal have a very good record against Newcastle and have won 13 of their last 14 meetings. But even then the 2/5 (1.4) with Betfair is hard to get behind.
Newcastle look more appealing at 7/1 (8.0) to get the win, but like Arsenal, their unpredictable form is off-putting. Arsenal hold the record for the most drama with more than half of their games ending in a stalemate (13). To make that 14 you’ll get 15/4 (4.75) with Betfair.
Arsenal vs Newcastle Score Prediction
Both these sides have scored four goals in their last four games, which makes us think there won’t be too many in this game. Historically, this isn’t a fixture filled with goals and in seven of their last eight games, the winning margin has been a single goal. They are joint on points and go into this game on very similar form so it would be easy to go for the draw, however, we think that the home side will nick it.
The Gunners are getting better under Arteta and with some extra training during the break, as well as a fitter squad than Newcastle -we think they will win by a small margin.
A 1-0 win to Arsenal at 13/2 (7.5) with Betfair is what we’d back here.
Arsenal vs Newcastle Tip
For our best bet, we’re looking at markets that could have value with the Homeside to win. The overs market isn’t appealing to us as we can’t see the visitors causing too many problems with key personal missing. The first-half may be more a tactical game with neither side prepared to lose the first goal, but in the second-half Arsenal will need to go and win it. With this in mind, we’re selecting a half-time/full-time market for our best bet.
