Wolves vs Leicester – The Form Guide
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won only once in their last six league games, meaning they now have an outside chance of finishing in the top four. They are going through a bit of a rocky patch and haven’t been able to take advantage of other teams around them crumbling. In saying that, they are only six points worse off than Chelsea in fourth with plenty of football still to play.
Although Wolves haven’t been winning, they have been playing some decent football. They would have been expected to beat the likes of Newcastle who they drew 1-1 with and were unlucky not to win the match. Wolves had the lions share of possession but weren’t clinical enough, something they will have to improve on to finish in the European spots.
In a similar vein, Leicesters electric start the campaign is now showing its cracks. The Foxes have managed only two league wins in their last five. As a result, they surrendered second spot and are now only eight clear of fourth-placed Chelsea. Unlike Wolves, they have been scoring, but have not managed to keep a clean sheet since the 1st of January.
Leicester crashed out the EFL Cup to relegation-threatened Aston Villa in one of the shocks of the cup. With one less competition to worry about, however, Brendan Rodgers can focus more energy on the league. A win here would give them a nice boost with Manchester City up next.
What is the Team News?
The big worry for Wolves Manager Santo is the fitness of Adam Traore. He has been a machine for Wolves in midfield and would be a huge loss if he missed out. His injury has been portrayed as minor, however, and the Spanish youngster is expected to start.
Definitely ruled out for the home side is Ruben Vinagre. He looks set for some time on the sidelines following a suspected tear in his hamstring.
Rodgers has a couple of absentees for this one. Nampalys Mendy is out with a knee injury and Daniel Amartey is going under the knife for an ankle problem.
Wilfred Ndidi is serious doubt as is Wes Morgan as he recovers from an illness.
Jamie Vardy is expected to start in what will be his 200th Premier League appearance.
Wolves Predicted Line-up: Patricio, Swiss, Coady, Boly, Jonny, Neves, Moutinho, Doherty, Traore, Jiminez, Jota
Leicester Predicted Line-up: Schmeichel, Chilwell, Soyuncu, Evans, Pereira, Choudhury, Barnes, Maddison, Tielemans, Perez, Vardy
Wolves vs Leicester Latest Odds
The home side are given the nod with the bookies. 22Bet have Wolves to win at 31/20 (2.55). Leicester are outsiders but only just at 185/100 (2.85). The Foxes looked good in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea and could be excellent value at those odds.
As the odds suggest however it will likely be a close match and the draw is a reasonable 215/100 (3.15) with 22Bet.
Wolves vs Leicester Score Prediction
Premier League Top scorer Jamie Vardy (17) has been back in action following a short injury lay-off and is hunting for his first goal in 2020. He last found the net in a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City in December and will be hoping to find his top form again soon. It would also be his first goal against Wolves. We think that he will end his hoodoo and goal drought here.
Furthermore, Wolves can score goals. Despite failing to find the net against United, they scored five times in their previous three games. With Traore likely returning to the team here, Wolves will create chances, and likely score too.
With this in mind, we think that both teams will balance each other out and we’re going for a score draw. A 1-1 draw with 22Bet at 53/10 (6.3) is our selection here.
Wolves vs Leicester Tip
Two of the last three meetings between these sides has ended goalless, while the other was a thrilling 4-3 win for Wolves. Because of that, over/under markets don’t look too appealing to us as it could either way. From a betting point of view, we wouldn’t recommend going with that. However, with both in a bit of form, especially at the back we don’t think that both teams will score and we’re looking at markets to cover that.
