Second-bottom Watford face Everton on Saturday in a game in which a win could see them move four places up the table. The Hornets were stung late by the Villans last time out and will be looking to make amends.
Everton have improved under Carlo Ancelotti and now look to be out of the relegation battle. In saying that, the 2-2 draw with Newcastle would have felt as bad as a defeat. It’s an intriguing match but can either get the win?

Watford vs Everton – The Form Guide
Watford recently put together a six league games unbeaten run which lifted them from the foot of the table. They won four in that period and for a short time found themselves out of the drop zone. A 0-0 draw tie Spurs two-game rounds ago, sounds like a decent result. However, when you consider captain Troy Deeney missed a penalty in the game, you wonder if that miss will come back to haunt them come the end of the season.
The Hornets were very unlucky to lose away to relegation rivals Aston Villa in their last league match. After taking the lead David Luiz equalised before Tyrone Mings deflected 95th winner sent all the points to Birmingham. To add to their woes, Watford were beaten mid-week by Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup.
Everton apparently turned down an £85m offer from Barcelona for Brazilian forward Richarilson. Which if true is massive. Ancellotti no doubt has the youngster in his plans as he’s been involved in more goals than any other Everton player this season (10 goals, 4 assists).
The Toffees came unstuck in their last league match against Newcastle which ended 2-2. Everton led 2-0 in the 93rd minute before collapsing and giving up two precious points. It was also the first time that the Merseyside club had managed to net more than one goal in January.
What is the Team News?
Nigel Pearson has a few absentees from his squad but only Daryl Janmaat, Tom Cleverley, and Sebastian Prodl are the only players definitely ruled out.
Will Hughes could return as could Danny Welbeck. Although they might not be fit enough to play the full match, both make excellent options on the bench for the home side.
One of the Hornets stand-out players this season, Ismaila Saar could also be set to return. He is deemed as a major doubt however and probably won’t be hurried back for this one.
Pearson may also have Kiko Femenia and Nathanial Chalobah to select from as they work their way back from injuries.
Ancelotti is sweating over the fitness of Richardson ahead of this one. He picked up a knee injury and is a doubt.
Similarly, Gylfi Sigurdsson is coming back from injury. Alex Iwobi should also be back from injury.
Watford Predicted Line-up: Foster, Dawson, Mariappa, Masina, Cathcart, Gray, Doucoure, Capoue, Pereyra, Deulofeu, Deeney.
Everton Predicted Line-up: Pickford, Holgate, Digne, Mina, Sidibe, Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Calvert-Lewin, Walcott, Bernard, Richarlison
Watford vs Everton Latest Odds
The betting markets are tilting towards an away win. 888Sport have Everton to take all the points back to Liverpool at odds of 8/5 (2.6). The Toffees are looking much tougher under their new regime, but a lack of goals makes this hard to back. From a betting angle, the 37/20 (2.85) on the home side seems more appealing.
Watford are coming into this suffering back-to-back losses and need to get momentum back on their side. If you fancy the draw you’ll get 23/10 (3.3) with 888Sport.
Watford vs Everton Score Prediction
Watford are unbeaten in five home league games while Everton have won only two away games in 12. Furthermore, the London side have kept eight clean sheets season despite their league position. This is the joint-second best record in the league and Everton will find it hard to break them down. Keeper Ben Foster is enjoying a good spell of form while opposing keeper Jordan Pickford has made a few errors.
In saying that, Richarlison is dangerous and top Toffees scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin is performing well under his new manager.
With this in mind, we think that Watford will win – but both teams will get on the scoresheet.
From a betting stance, therefore, we’re backing a 2-1 scoreline to the home side. You can get 9/1 (10.0) on that outcome at 888Sport which is a decent price.
Watford vs Everton Betting Tip
Nigel Pearson has instilled a fighting mentality on his players since taking over. As has Carlo Ancelotti at Everton. Both these sides were the whipping boys for the early part of the season but are now playing some nice football.
Home advantage could play a part here. The fact that Watford will be hurting from their loss to Villa and their league position are the team that needs the points more. Because of that, we think they will edge this game.
