Newcastle vs Chelsea – The Form Guide
The Magpies have been hard to grasp this season. Their performances have been mixed, but to be fair, they have been hit with a lot of injuries. This has meant that Steve Bruce hasn’t been able to find any consistency as his side is constantly being adjusted. They have won seven games this season but lost 10 leaving them in 13th place and only five points from safety.
Scoring has been an issue for Newcastle. They have the third-lowest goals tally this campaign with only 21. Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey leads the way with five, which pretty much says it all. In saying that, Joelition ended his 20 games scoreless run against Rochdale, and record signing Miguel Almiron finally looks to have settled into the English game. Could fortunes be about to turn for them?
Chelsea went through a sticky patch in the lead up to Christmas, losing three of their six league games in December. They managed to hold on to their fourth spot however as the chasing pack also slipped up. Lampard’s young team are five points ahead of Manchester United and with players coming into form are back into odds on to remain in the top four until the end of the season.
Unlike Newcastle, Chelsea have been finding the net regularly. They have bagged 39 so far including six in their last three league outings. Tammy Abraham got himself on the scoresheet in their 3-0 win over Burnley and Callum Hudson-Odoi also got in on the action. These young forwards will cause all sorts of problems for Newcastle and will be a real threat.
What is the Team News?
No less than 13 first team players are doubts for Steve Bruce heading into the weekend.
Definitely ruled out for the Magpies are Dwight Gayle, Javi Manquillo, Jack Colback and Paul Dummett.
Meanwhile, Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles are more than likely going to be available for selection. Joelition made a goal-scoring return and is also ready to play his first league game in some time.
Ki Sung-Yueng and DeAndre Yedlin are both deemed doubts for the match.
Chelsea aren’t without injury concerns of their own. N’Golo Kante will be sorely missed in the middle of the field if he doesn’t recover in time. He is currently being assessed but is a major doubt.
Both Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are sidelined with injuries.
Marco van Ginkel remains the only long-term absentee while out of favour left-back Marcos Alonso will also miss out through injury.
Newcastle Predicted line-up: Dubravka, Hayden, Fernandez, Clark, Lascelles, Willems, Joeliton, S Longstaff, M Longstaff, Shelvey, Almiron,
Chelsea Predicted line-up: Arriabalaga, James, Christensen, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Barkley, Jorginho, Mount, Hudson-Odio, Abraham, Willian

Newcastle vs Chelsea Score Prediction
The last time these two sides produced a 0-0 bore draw was 20 fixtures ago, back in 2008. Chelsea are in good goal scoring form with six in their last three games. Whereas Newcastle have scored one or less in their last six league games. With this in mind, we’re looking at correct scores where Chelsea outscore Newcastle, and possibly by a decent margin.
Newcastle vs Chelsea Betting Tip
Chelsea are back in the ascendancy and we think that the most sensible place to look for value in this match are markets which include them winning. Newcastle do have some key players coming back into the team, but without match fitness could struggle to keep up with Chelsea’s fast forward line.
Tammy Abraham has netted 13 Premier League goals for Chelsea this season – Frank Lampard is the only other Englishman to score that number for the club in the league. He’s a man on a mission and we expect him to score. 19-year-old Hudson-Odoi looks finally to be getting his chance and if he remains without injury looks set to hold his place in the team.
Because of this, we think the Blues will score a few. With this in mind, we're also looking at markets with plenty of goals.
