Burnley vs Leicester City – Premier League 2019/20

Where to Watch

Venue: Turf Moor

Date: 19/01/20

Kick Off Time: 14:00 GMT

TV Channel / Live Stream: The match will be live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League. Coverage gets underway at 1pm as part of Super Sunday.

Burnley vs Leicester City – The Form Guide

Burnley’s form makes alarming reading, especially with them slipping closer to the relegation zone. The Clarets have lost six of their last eight Premier League games. Worryingly for Sunday’s clash, Burnley have taken just one point from a possible 33 against teams currently in the top half of the table.

Southampton left the King Power Stadium with a well-deserved 2-1 win last time out. Leicester’s form dipped over the Christmas period. Defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool weren’t shocks but being held 1-1 at home by Norwich City and a defeat to Saints in their last outing has curtailed their momentum. They also have a Carabao Cup semi-final second leg coming up. Will that distract the Foxes?

What is the Team News?

Illness ruled Jay Rodriguez and Phil Bardsley out of Burnley’s defeat to Chelsea last weekend. They are in contention for a return to action here, though. Ashley Barnes, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Robbie Brady also missed the game and are doubtful for this clash.

Wilfred Ndidi is expected to be out for a few weeks after minor surgery. He’s likely to be missing until February as the Nigeria midfielder continues his recovery. Matty James and Daniel Amartey are both long-term absentees. Wes Morgan is still side-lined after being substituted in the FA Cup win over Wigan.

Predicted Line-Ups

Burnley Predicted Line-up: Pope; Taylor, Mee, Tarkowski, Bardsley; McNeil, Cork, Westwood, Rodriguez, Hendrick; Wood

Leicester City Predicted Line-up: Schmeichel; Chilwell, Evans, Soyuncu; Choudhury, Tielemans, Barnes, Maddison, Perez, Vardy

Burnley vs Leicester City Latest Odds

Unibet are a top price of 10/11 (1.91) about Leicester getting back to winning ways in this one. Burnley are 31/10 (4.10) underdogs to snap their losing streak and claim three valuable points in the battle against relegation. The draw is an industry-best 11/4 (3.75) with the same firm.

Burnley vs Leicester City Score Prediction

The home side have struggled for goals recently. Burnley have netted just once in their last four and that came at home to struggling Aston Villa in a 2-1 defeat. However, with Leicester missing the influential N’didi they may be able to contribute to the goal tally here. The Foxes should prove too good given their impressive performances across the season as a whole. That said, it might not be straight forward for Brendan Rodgers’ side. A 2-1 Leicester win is the preferred correct score prediction at 17/2 (8.50) with bet365.

Burnley vs Leicester City Betting Tip

The visitors make some appeal at 10/11 (1.91). Despite some dodgy performances recently, they take on a Burnley team who have been very poor of late. Dyche's side have built their reputation on being tough to break down but that's not the case lately. The Clarets have conceded goals at a staggering rate. For extra juice in the price, opt for the 15/8 (2.88) with Betway on an away win and over 2.5 goals in the game.

This selection has landed in six of Burnley’s seven games against teams currently ranked sixth or better this season. The other they lost 2-0 to Arsenal. With Leicester looking a little more suspect at the back the Clarets may find a breakthrough but are unlikely to have enough to take anything from the game. The reverse fixture finished 2-1 and a repeat here would land this bet at tasty odds.
