Nigel Pearson has put the sting back into Watford since taking the reins in December. The Hornets have not lifted themselves off the bottom of the table, but out of the drop zone. They welcome a struggling Spurs side in the first kick-off of the weekend.
Jose Mourinho’s side make the short journey to Vicarage Road without a win in their last four games. They are now nine points off the pace in the race for a coveted Champions League spot. They are in much need of win, but without the services of Harry Kane, could be in trouble.

Watford vs Tottenham – The Form Guide
The Hornets are in a fine vein of form. They have won four of their last five games and have scored 11 in that time. Previous to this run, Watford had won only once all season and looked set for relegation. It was a 2-0 win over Manchester United just before Christmas that has pushed them on, and they haven’t looked back.
Captain Troy Deeney’s return from injury has given the team a boost. He put in a man of the match performance in the teams 3-0 win over Bournemouth and is a key player for Pearson. Frenchman Abdoulaye Doucoure has also upped his game in recent weeks and is now the clubs second highest Premier League scorer with 16.
On the other hand, Spurs are a team that appear to be in chaos. Mourinho hasn’t settled the ship much since his arrival, and the London side are slipping down the table. They were outplayed in their 1-0 loss to Liverpool last weekend and were outmuscled in their 1-0 defeat to Southampton the weekend before.
Scoring goals is becoming a challenge for Spurs, and the loss of Harry Kane until April is a real concern. They have failed to score in three of their last five league games and are 10 behind their tally from this stage last season. Mourinho will likely go shopping in the transfer window but is unlikely to have a new striker in place for this one.
What is the Team News?
Watford boss Nigel Pearson has a few injuries to contend with. Christian Kabasele will miss out again as he serves his final game suspension.
English midfielder Tom Cleverley remains out for another couple of weeks as does fellow countryman Danny Wellbeck.
Will Hughes, Sebastian Prodl and Kiko Femenia will also watch on from the sidelines due to injury,
Mourinho’s journey as Spurs boss hasn’t been an easy one so far. Harry Kane's injury will make it much harder one going forward. His star forward will be out until the end of April, meaning Spurs are without a recognised striker.
At the back, Hugo Lloris also remains out with his elbow fracture.
Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko have been the best midfielders so far for the club this season, but are both out for the foreseeable future. Ben Davies is also out.
Watford Predicted line-up: Foster, Mariappa, Dawson, Cathcart, Masina, Chalobah, Capoue, Sarr, Doucoure, Deulofeu, Deeney
Tottenham Predicted line-up: Gazzaniga, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Aurier, Sanchez, Lamela, Alli, Eriksen, Dier, Moura, Son
Watford vs Tottenham Latest Odds
On form, it’s difficult to consider backing Spurs to get a win here, therefore odds of 6/5 (2.2) don't hold much value. Watford are full of confidence and Pearson has a good choice of attacking options. From a betting point of view, the 21/10 (3.1) a home win with 10bet looks very appealing.
In the reverse fixture, Dele Alli struck late to grab a 1-1 draw. For a draw to be played out here, you’ll get odds of 5/2 (3.5) with 10bet.
Watford vs Tottenham Score Prediction
Tottenham have kept only two clean sheets all season – the joint-worst record in the league with basement club Norwich. Furthermore, they have conceded 20 goals in Mourinho’s first 13 games in charge. To put that in context, it took 44 games for the Portuguese manager to reach that tally with his first Chelsea side. They have also failed to score in back-to-back games.
In contrast, Watford have managed to keep seven clean sheets, despite their poor start to the campaign. They have finally found their shooting boots, finding the net eight times in their last three league games. In the previous nineteen that managed only four more than that (12).
Bearing this in mind, we’re fancying the look of a low scoring game that the home side will edge. 10bet have a 2-1 win to Watford at odds of 21/2 (11.75) and this is our pick.
Watford vs Tottenham Betting Tip
Spurs have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season, and we can see that becoming three in a row. Despite what the odds say, form points to a home win.
Watford have only beaten Spurs once in their last seventeen meetings and it’s likely this history that is influencing the Hornets decent odds. Therefore the value for this match lies in a Watford win.
Tottenham may find it hard to break down Pearson's side and will be vulnerable to set pieces and counter-attacks. As a result, we think that Watford will win but by a tight margin and in a low scoring contest.
Therefore our pick is Watford to win and under 3.5 goals.
