Manchester United host Everton in what should be a cracking match on Sunday. The Red Devils are bursting with confidence having secured back-to-back wins over Spurs and Man City. Incidentally, this was the first time they’ve won twice in a row in the league since January.
Duncan Ferguson will lead Everton to Manchester as Interim Manager. He will be hoping to see his players rise to the occasion as they did against Chelsea. The mood at Goodison Park has lifted since Marco Silva’s departure, but will this amount to points in the league?

Manchester United vs Everton – The Form Guide
Ole Gunnar Solskjær and his team were given no chance of picking up points against neighbours Manchester City and Spurs. However, came away with all six points. United have now moved up to fifth spot in the table, only four points behind Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.
Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford seem to be forming a great partnership. Rashford has now equaled his best league return ever after only 16 games and has bagged 13 goals in his last 14 games.
Solskjær has been accused of play ‘anti-possession’ football against City and Spurs. In those big games, however, counter-attacking football achieved the desired result. He proved his doubters wrong on Thursday with a 4-0 Europa League win, showing that his side can also be the ones on the front foot.
It’s hard to remember a time this season when things were looking bright for Toffees fans. But their team may finally have turned a corner. Club legend, Duncan Ferguson, lifted team morale when he took charge of Everton’s deserved win over Chelsea last weekend. It was the first time we’ve seen Everton show what they are capable of.
In saying that, it was one of Chelsea’s worst performances of the season, and Everton had their home fans behind. Everton have lost six of their last seven away games in the league, winning only one all season. The Toffees are 14th in the league and only two points from safety. A result here could change their entire season.
What is the Team News?
Jesse Lingard is a major doubt for the game having picked up a muscle strain in last weekends derby.
Lingard joins the list of absentees for the Red Devils.
Diogo Dalot and Eric Bailly are not set to return until the new year. It is reported that Paul Pogba and Tim Fonsu-Mensah will be back in training this week, but not yet fit enough to play.
Marcos Rojo is another who will not be available through injury.
Theo Walcott and Fabian Delph are doubts for Everton, but could feature.
Yerra Mina is a doubt having pulled his hamstring, while Lucas Digne is struggling with a groin complaint.
Seamus Coleman could be called up to the bench having missed three games due to a rib injury.
Manchester United Predicted line-up: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young; McTominay, Fred; James, Pereira, Rashford; Martial
Everton Predicted line-up: Pickford; Sidibe, Keane, Holgate, Baines; Walcott, Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson, Iwobi; Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison
Manchester United vs Everton Latest Odds
Following three wins in a row, Manchester United are deserved favourites. They head the betting with Betfair sportsbook at 3/4 (1.75). Everton are shorter than they would have been, had they not seen off Chelsea at the weekend, but 4/1 (5.0) seems about right.
Manchester United vs Everton Score Prediction
Both of these teams have been letting too many goals in at the back. Albeit, Everton have conceded nine more that Manchester United. Both teams have scored in six of Everton’s last seven games, while the same is true for Manchester United’s last five league games. Therefore, we should expect both teams to score.
In saying that, we don’t think that Everton will find the net. Gylfi Sigurdsson has scored in four of his last five visits to Old Trafford but hasn’t been on great form this season. Duncan Ferguson managed to win in his first game, but Everton’s troubles run deeper than morale. United are full of confidence and with Rashford (10/3 to open the scoring) in such a rich vein of form, we see United winning.
Manchester United vs Everton Betting Tip
Betting is a numbers game, which doesn’t always add up. Everton were tipped to lose last weekend against Chelsea but managed to put on their finest display of the season. Solskjær was set for the chop following Manchester United's worst start to a campaign ever but saved himself with two huge wins.
Manchester United look like a team that are ready for the step up and are genuine top-four contenders now. They are tightening up at the back, and David De Gea should be getting more clean sheets as the season goes on. This game is just as big for them as those against Spurs and City as it gives them a chance to prove they can be consistent.
We think that Everton, despite having the wind in their sails will crash back to reality at Old Trafford. And for those reasons, we’re backing a home win.
