Current Champions Manchester City are expected to win to keep pace with league leaders Liverpool, who they are 11 points adrift of at the top. In saying that, a Manchester derby is rarely easily won.

Man City vs Man United – The Form Guide
Pep Guardiola and his team were looking a little deflated in November, winning only two of six games in all competitions. A disheartening 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in the league, followed up with a 2-2 draw with Newcastle a couple of weeks later has some ruling City out of the title race.
However, City are not playing terribly. Liverpool’s unbelievable form is making City look worse, and Pep’s team have put in some stellar displays. The 2-1 win over Chelsea that was sandwiched in-between the Newcastle draw and Liverpool defeat was fantastic. City also showed they will keep fighting with an impressive 4-1 win over Burnley on Tuesday evening.
Manchester United haven’t had much to shout about this season, and are enduring their worst Premier League campaign in 30 years. They have won only five of the opening 15 games (half of city’s total) and have lost four. Goals have been coming, but they have scored 20 less than their city rivals. Worryingly, they have also only kept two clean sheets all season.
In saying all that, Manchester United turn up for the big occasions. They have beaten Chelsea and Spurs this season and took a point from Liverpool. The Red Devils were expected to crumble against Spurs on Wednesday but instead put on a rousing display. Rashford netted twice, bringing his league total to nine and it was also his 10th goal in nine games. They won’t make it easy for City.
What is the Team News?
City’s all-time top scorer Sergio Aguero has all but been ruled out from taking part. He picked up a knock in City’s 2-1 win over Chelsea and isn’t expected to be match fit for at least another week.
In his place, Gabriel Jesus will likely step up. The Brazilian bagged a brace against Burnley so comes in on good form.
Oleksandr Zinchenko offers a boost for Pep at the back. The Ukrainian international has returned to full training and could be available for selection.
Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane remain sidelined with injuries.
Scott McTominay made a welcome return for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer against Spurs, and will surely be on the team sheet here.
Nemanja Matic could be ready to make his return with Solskjaer saying he was touch and go for the Spurs game. In contrast, Paul Pogba has been ruled out, although should be back in action soon.
Anthony Martial is a sore one for United to lose. The Frenchman picked up an injury on Sunday against Villa and is likely to miss out.
Ashley Young was recalled to the starting XI on Wednesday as captain and could take the left-back position here.
Man City Predicted line-up: Ederson; Cancelo, Zinchenko, Fernandinho, Mendy; De Bruyne, Rodri, D Silva; Bernardo, Jesus, Sterling
Man United Predicted line-up: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young, Fred, McTominay, James, Lingard, Rashford, Greenwood
Man City vs Man United Latest Odds
Pep Guardiola has a decent record in Manchester derbies having lost only one in the league during his tenure. That was a 3-2 loss at home last April. Since then, City have won 3-1 and 2-0. It’s no surprise therefore that City are favourites. You can get 3/10 (1.3) at bet365 for the City win, and a huge 9/1 (10.0) on Manchester United.
Man City vs Man United Score Prediction
Manchester derbies produce some memorable goals, and not so memorable ones. In the last four matches, there have been a total of 14 goals scored, and we can see quite a few going in on Saturday.
Man City vs Man United Betting Tip
On paper, this is an easy win for Manchester City. The betting markets all point to a comfortable win for Pep’s team, but he hasn’t had it all his way this season. Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne have been the stand out performers all season, and Rodri showed his worth with a rocket against Burnley. Jesus is proving a decent understudy to Aguero and you think that City will be hungry for a win.
On the other hand, Manchester United come into this game with some confidence. Beating Spurs would have lifted a few players, with the likes of Fred putting in a good performance. McTominay played well on his return and if United can shape up at the back, they have a chance of getting something out of this game.
We are following the odds however for our tip. City played some slick football on Tuesday and if they hit that level on Saturday will beat United. They are still a bit shaky at the back, and with Rashford on the form he is, we can see him nicking a goal.
Therefore our best bet for the game is City to win and both teams to score at 13/8 (2.62).
