Results haven’t been going Aston Villa’s way. The Birmingham side lost to Chelsea on Wednesday night, and have now lost three of their last five. They currently have 15 points and are hovering just above the relegation zone.
The visiting team are almost the mirror opposite. It’s fair to say that Leicester have been enjoying life under Brendan Rodgers. The Foxes sit second in the league on a run of seven successive league wins.

Aston Villa vs Leicester – The Form Guide
15 points after 15 games has left the Villans in trouble. Despite some gutsy performances, they haven’t been able to grind out results. In fact, Dean Smiths' side have pushed the ‘big six’ when playing them, even scoring the first goal in four out of five of those. It was a similar story in the 2-1 defeat at Chelsea where they looked good for a draw but left the game empty-handed.
At home, they’ve looked especially good, and have fared better at getting points. Since losing their first home game of the season, only Liverpool have come here and won. The scoreline that day was 2-1, with two goals after the 87th minute needed to win it for the Reds.
Leicester will of course come into this game with confidence. They are absolutely flying at the moment with star man Jamie Vardy scoring at will. He has netted 14 league goals already this season and is favourite for the Golden Boot. Seven victories in a row is an incredible feat and with games against Manchester City and Liverpool over Christmas, the Foxes will be keen to keep those points ticking over.
Victories of late haven’t been all that pretty though for Leicester. They made hard work of a poor Watford side in their 2-0 win on Wednesday, and in their 2-1 win against Everton. They will have to do better on Sunday to keep their winning streak going.
What is the Team News?
Anwar El Ghazi could give Dean Smith a boost. The Dutch international limped off in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United but is expected to make a return.
Spanish midfielder Jota made his first appearance on Wednesday night as a sub since the end of September. He could be fighting for a place in the starting 11.
Aside from Jed Steer, Aston Villa have no more injury concerns.
Ben Chilwell is expected back in the team having missed the Watford win for Leicester.
There were some concerns over Ayoze Perez following his substitution at half-time on Wednesday. Brendan Rodgers has since confirmed this was a tactical decision.
Aston Villa Predicted line-up: Heaton, Guilbert, Konsa, Mings, Targett, McGinn, Hourihane, Douglas, El-Ghazi, Grealish, Wesley
Leicester Predicted line-up: Schmeichel; Pereira, Evans, Söyüncü, Chilwell, Ndidi, Iheanacho, Tielemans; Maddison, Barnes, Vardy
Aston Villa vs Leicester Latest Odds
Paddy Power are giving Villa at 10/3 (4.33) chance to get the win, while Leicester are set to kick-off favourites at 8/11 (1.73). Based on current form, it’s hard to argue with that. The Foxes are going for a club record of eight league wins in a row, and have every chance of making it.
If you fancy the draw, Paddy Power have that at 11/4 (3.75)
Aston Villa vs Leicester Score Prediction
Not only are Leicester on a winning streak, but are on a scoring run of 11 matches in a row. Jamie Vardy has bagged at least one goal in his last seven league games and must fancy trying to beat the league record of 11 games in a row. Set by himself of course back in 2015.
Egyptian Trezeguet netted for the third game in a row for Aston Villa, and was the first player to do so since Tom Cleverly.
So there could be goals in this one. Leicester haven’t been at their best, but we fancy them to nick the win here. 2-1 to the away side at 13/2 (7.5) is our fancy.
Aston Villa vs Leicester Betting Tip
Jamie Vardy has been in such great form that backing him seems logical. He has been Leicester’s target man and we expect him to find the target.
Unlike Leicester, Villa haven’t being getting points and unfortunately for them, we see this game following the same pattern. It will be a hard-fought contest, with Villa especially strong in midfield but we think Leicester will be the more clinical side and go on to win it.
Therefore, we’re tipping Vardy to score first and Leicester to win at 4/1 (5.0) with Paddy Power.
