Chelsea secured a hard-earned point with a 2-2 away draw to Valencia on Wednesday night in the Champions League. Group H will be decided on the final game week leaving Frank Lampard’s men with work to do.
Attention will turn to the home front this weekend however for their London derby against West Ham on Saturday. Chelsea have won three Premier League home games in a row without conceding, while the Hammers have failed to score in their past two away games.

Chelsea vs West Ham – The Form Guide
Chelsea’s winning streak of six Premier League victories came to an end at the Etihad last weekend. The blues were beaten 2-1 in a competitive contest, in which the better team probably won. That is no disrespect to their overall performance as Pep Guardiola’s team held only 47% of possession – the lowest of his entire career. Lampard has got Chelsea ticking nicely and they currently occupy fourth spot in the table.
The blues have been enjoying excellent goal-scoring form with the likes of Christian Pulisic (13/2 (7.5) to score first) finding his feet in England. The American playmaker has played a vital role in Chelsea’s recent success having scored as many goals in his last seven games as he did in his previous 36. But it has been how Chelsea have been playing as a team that has really impressed. In November in all competitions, they have scored 12 goals in only 5 games and are a threat from every angle.
Conversely, West Ham have been miserable. Supporters of the club have been demanding Manuel Pellegrini’s head on a plate and we suspect it won’t be long until he is relieved of his duties. Unless he can turn fortunes around. The Hammers have lost four of their last five Premier League games and are without a win in seven. The Londoners look set to be caught in the relegation battle as they sit only three points above the drop in 17th place.
West Ham have managed only three wins all season, losing six of the opening 13. In a glimmer of hope, they are capable of scoring goals. They have 16 this season and have decent options going forward.
What is the Team News?
It would have been a concern for all Chelsea fans to watch Tammy Abraham limp off on Wednesday, before being taken away from the pitch in a stretcher. It is unclear when he will be back but is certainly a doubt for the weekend. Early indications suggest the hip injury isn’t too serious.
Lampard will remain without Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger for another few weeks. Both are expected to be fit again sometime before Christmas.
Ross Barkley is ruled out due to an ankle injury. Similarly, Marco Van Ginkel is out based on a knee injury.
One of West Ham’s biggest problems this season has been the injury to keeper Lukasz Fabianski. He picked up a thigh injury and won’t be back until the new year. Roberto Jiménez has made numerous errors in his absence and West Ham supporters will be desperate for his return.
Attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini is also a player sorely missed by the team. He remains unavailable for selection due to a rumoured broken collarbone.
Issa Diop will also miss out for the Hammers through suspension.
Chelsea Predicted line-up: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Mount; Willian, Giroud, Pulisic.
West Ham Predicted line-up: Roberto; Fredericks, Balbuena, Sánchez, Cresswell; Rice; Snodgrass, Noble, Anderson, Fornals; Haller
Chelsea vs West Ham Latest Odds
The blue side of London are expected to win, with odds on Chelsea at 2/7 (1.29) with Betfair. Interestingly, West Ham have a fairly decent record against Chelsea of late, claiming two draws and a win in their last four meetings. To make that three draws in four games, you can get 5/1 (6.0) with Betfair. Or if you really fancy the Hammers to produce the goods on Saturday you’ll get 19/2 (10.5).
Chelsea vs West Ham Score Prediction
The betting markets are pushing us towards goals. They have been coming thick and fast for Chelsea and we reckon that even without the services of Abraham, the blues will score. West Ham have been scoring, but not on the road. They failed to get passed Burnley and a poor Everton side so they shouldn’t trouble Chelsea. In saying that, Kepa Arrizabalaga has been guilty of a few mistakes lately and his confidence could be shaken.
All things considered, we fancy Chelsea to win, and by a margin. We’re going for a 3-0 correct score at 17/2 (8.5) with Betfair.
Chelsea vs West Ham Betting Tip
We fancy a comfortable Chelsea win, and given that the Hammers have been behind at half-time in four of their last five matches, we’re looking at half-time/full-time odds. Chelsea to be winning at half-time/full-time is decent at (5/6) 1.83 and could fit nicely in a weekend acca.
For a single bet, however, we’re looking at the likelihood of West Ham scoring and can’t see it happening. Therefore our best bet for the game is for Both teams not to score at 23/20 (2.15)
