Manchester United v Brighton – The Form Guide

Inconsistent is too kind of a word to describe Manchester United’s form this season. There’s no denying they are a club in transition. They aren’t the powerhouse they once were, but united should be doing better. With a huge budget and star names to boast in their squad,  13 points from 11 games are simply not good enough.

The only saving grace for the Red Devils is that when it really matters, they seem to come up with the goods. In all competitions that have won three of their last four games. They are struggling in the league though, with only one win in six.

Brighton will be full of confidence coming to Old Trafford having won three of their last five Premier League games. They beat Norwich well, recording a 2-0 scoreline last weekend. Belgian winger Trossard caught the eye with an impressive display when he came on as a substitute and scored; he could start on Sunday.

Despite only picking up four points from 15 on their travels, Brighton could get nick at least a point here. Defensively they are, on form, one of the best in the league having kept four clean sheets. This is only bettered by Manchester City and Sheffield United who both have five.

What is the Team News?

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s job isn’t being made any easier with an extensive injury list.

Bailly remains sidelined with an injury and fellow defenders Shaw, Tuanzebe, and Dalot are also unfit to play. The usually reliable utility man Ashley Young can’t help fill the void this time around as he misses the game through suspension.

Swedish International Lindelof is struggling with a niggle and is in a race to be fit. Currently, he has a 50/50 chance of playing.

To add to his woes, Scott McTominay is a major doubt having picked up a knock on Thursday. This is especially concerning as McTominay was already playing stand-in for the injured Pogba and Matic.

Graham Potter isn’t without injury concerns of his own. Bernardo and Jose Izquierdo have been ruled out, with the latter not expected to feature much before the end of the season.

Defender Adam Webster also misses out with an ankle injury.

Predicted Line-Ups

Manchester United Predicted Line-up: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Williams, Maguire, Rojo; McTominay, Fred; Pereira, Rashford, James; Martial

Arsenal Predicted Line-up: Ryan; Montoya, Duffy, Dunk, Burn; Trossard, Stephens, Propper, Alzate; Connolly, Maupay

Manchester United v Brighton Latest Odds

Manchester United are odds on to win at 4/6 (1.67) across the board. Although form and injuries are against them, it is fair given the fact that they have won all four home encounters in the Premier League against the visitors. In saying that 5/1 (6.0) seems like a big price for Brighton to take three points and certainly holds more value than the short united odds. A draw could very well be on the cards in a game where we might not see much goal action, so if you fancy a draw, you'll get 13/5 (3.65) with LeoVegas.

Manchester United v Brighton Score Prediction

Brighton has a fitter squad and have played four games less than their northern rivals. They have better form but are considered quite big outsiders. United have edged the last four meetings between these two sides at Old Trafford by a single goal and it looks as though that trend will continue. All things considered, we reckon a 2-1 scoreline in united’s favour is likely.

Manchester United v Brighton Betting Tip

A victory for Brighton would give them their best start to a Premier League season. It would also equal their club record of three straight Premier League wins, which was last achieved over 12 months ago. Manchester United have something to prove, however, and anything less than a win here could spell even more trouble for Solskjær. Therefore we fancy a united win. They are too short to back at 4/6 (1.67) but we can see real value in the 2-1 scoreline.

Best bet: Manchester United to win 2-1 at odds of 7/1 with LeoVegas
