Wolves vs Chelsea – The Form Guide

Wolves finished 7th last term but have picked up just three points thus far. With a place in the Europa League group stages secured, there are plenty more midweek trips to come for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

That said, the home side will have more time to prepare for this clash than they’ve been used to recently thanks to the international break. They’ll be desperate to improve on the 3-2 defeat against Everton two weeks ago.

Frank Lampard’s men let a 2-0 lead over Sheffield United slip last time out. The Blues have yet to find their stride and have looked defensively suspect. Including a 4-0 defeat to Manchester United on the opening weekend, Chelsea have yet to keep a clean sheet this season. That has to be a major concern given their inability to add any players in January and their ambitions to remain in the European places.

Wolves have a habit of taking big scalps since their return to the top-flight, including a 2-1 win in this exact fixture last season.

What is the Team News?

Willy Boly is suspended after being sent off at Goodison Park. Matt Doherty is struggling with a knee injury while Romain Saiss picked up a knock on international duty. He’ll be assessed in the run up to the game.

A host of players could return to the fold for Chelsea. Pedro and Mateo Kovacic have been working their way back from injury over the international break. N'Golo Kante isn't fit enough to be considered for selection according to Frank Lampard.

Antonio Rudiger has featured for the Under-21 team in recent weeks but may still be lacking some match fitness although he's available to play. Callum Hudson-Odoi will play for Chelsea's Under 23 side together with Reece James.

Predicted Line-Ups

Wolves Predicted line-up: Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Vallejo; Traore, Dendonker, Neves, Mouthinho, Vinagre; Jota, Jimenez

Chelsea line-up: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Chritstensen, Rudiger, Emerson; Kante, Jorginho, Mount; Pedro, Pulisic, Abraham

Wolves vs Chelsea Latest Odds

There isn’t much between the sides in the betting. Wolves are slight 19/10 (2.90) underdogs despite having home advantage. Betfair have Chelsea as their 6/4 (2.50) market principles with the draw available at 23/10 (3.30).

Wolves vs Chelsea City Score Prediction

It’s difficult to pick a winner with any degree of certainty here. An end-to-end game looks likely based on both teams’ performances thus far, though. The 12/1 (13.0) with Betfair Sportsbook about a 2-2 draw gets the nod from a score prediction point of view.

Wolves vs Chelsea Betting Tip

This game screams goals. It’s impossible to trust either defence and both teams look much more comfortable in the final third. Neither side managed a breakthrough on matchday one but since then both teams to score has landed in all six of their games. 8/11 (1.73) on goals at both ends is a solid enough selection but it’s worth taking a chance on a bigger price.

Tammy Abraham has scored four times in his last two games for Chelsea. Fresh from an international break where he wasn’t called up for England duty, Abraham is too big at 9/5 (2.80) to find the net at Molineux.

The 21-year-old opened the scoring against Norwich and Sheffield United. Betfair Sportsbook are 5/1 (6.0) about the same outcome here and that could be worth a smaller stake. Especially as Wolves have conceded the first goal in their last three matches.

Best Bet: Tammy Abraham to score at 9/5 (2.80) with Betfair
