With four rounds of the Premier League completed, several big names have kicked-off their Golden Boot claims in style as have some left-field candidates.

Premier League Golden Boot Betting: Aguero and Sterling off to a flyer

Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling have made blistering starts for Manchester City, netting 11 goals between them so far. The reigning champions look irresistible going forward once again, but a 2-2 draw against Tottenham has given Liverpool an early advantage in the title race.

Aguero was an 11/2 (6.50) chance to top the scoring charts before the season began, and has since been cut to 7/2 (4.50) favourite with bet365. Sterling trades at 6/1 (7.0) from 12/1 (13.0) with the same firm.

Pre-season favourites make solid starts

Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah were pre-season joint-favourites for the Premier League top scorer prize at 4/1 (5.0) with bet365.

With three goals apiece, Kane has since drifted slightly to 9/2 (5.50) while Salah is 11/2 (6.50). Liverpool's strikers have continued to split the goals, whereas Kane's prominence in Tottenham's attack sees him at shorter odds.

Each of these players were expected to be towards the front of the Golden Boot race and were priced as such. Elsewhere though, there are several players who have made an impressive start, defying significantly bigger ante-post prices from the bookmakers.

100/1 Pukki sees odds slashed after emphatic opening

Teemu Pukki helped fire Norwich City to the Championship title with 29 league goals last term. The Finland international has looked right at home in the top-flight too, winning the Premier League Player of the Month award for August.

Pukki’s five goals in four games have seen the Canaries frontman cut from pre-season quotes of 100/1 (101.0) to 25/1 (26.0) in the Golden Boot market with bet365.

Bookies not buying into Barnes for now

Ashley Barnes is still 100/1 (101.0) despite four goals to start the campaign for Burnley although that is half his ante-post price. The bookies remain unconvinced that the Clarets forward can continue the form that has seen him net 12 goals in his last 20 Premier League games.

Barnes could be set for a profitable spell after the international break though, Sean Dyche's side take on Brighton, Norwich and Aston Villa to resume their league campaign.

Abraham securing a Chelsea starting spot

Tammy Abraham has staked his claim to lead Chelsea’s new-look forward line with four strikes. Frank Lampard’s only other senior striking options are Olivier Giroud and Michy Bashuayi. With no opportunity to bring in further reinforcements, Abraham should get plenty of opportunities to increase his tally for the London club.

Before matchday one the 21-year-old forward was 50/1 (51.0) to win the Golden Boot this season. That price has been halved to 25/1 (26.0) following doubles against Norwich and Sheffield United in back-to-back outings heading into the international break.
