It feels like the Premier League season is only just springing into life and there’s an international break around the corner.

Gareth Southgate has named his 25-man England squad for the Euro 2020 qualifying clashes against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

New faces in the Three Lions camp

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrone Mings have been called up to the senior squad for the first time.

The £50 million Manchester United summer signing will face stiff competition at right-back. Chiefly from Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold but also Kieran Trippier. The former Spurs man retains his place after moving to Atletico Madrid. Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho is the only other player to be called up from a team outside the Premier League.

The absence of Kyle Walker has been seen as the biggest surprise from Thursday's announcement. Southgate has opted for a youthful group that also includes uncapped midfielders Mason Mount and James Maddison.

The pair were last called up in October 2018 with neither taking to the field. However, both have both been rewarded for impressive starts to the campaign with Chelsea and Leicester respectively.

Dele Alli has been left out of the squad as he continues his recovery from injury. The Tottenham midfielder may feature this weekend at the Emirates Stadium, though.

England expected to cruise through Euro 2020 qualifying

England are a best price of 1/8 (1.12) with bet365 to beat Bulgaria at Wembley on Saturday 7th September. The Three Lions are likely to be an even shorter price to beat Kosovo in Southampton three days later.

Despite missing out of qualification via the Nations League finals last summer, England are 9/2 (5.50) second-favourites to win Euro 2020 with bet365. France head the market at 7/2 (4.50) for the tournament which will be played across the continent with both semi-finals and showpiece finale played at Wembley.

Belgium, Spain and Germany are all available at 7/1 (8.0) ahead of Italy (16/1) and World Cup runners up Croatia (25/1).

Sunday’s North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham is the last top-flight action until September 14th.
