Heidenheim vs Cologne – Form Guide
The home side were dumped out of the German Cup in midweek, but they did not disgrace themselves at all. Not many sides can go to the Allianz Arena and score four goals. In their last league game, Heidenheim failed to score away at Magdeburg. They didn’t concede either which resulted in them coming away with a point, but it could have been all three if Theuerkauf hadn’t been sent off for two bookable offences.
Frank Schmidt’s side overcame Union Berlin 2-1 last time out at home, but they’ve struggled to convincingly win games recently. They were humbled 2-1 at the start of March at home to Jahn Regensburg and held 2-2 against Hamburg. The home side certainly have goals in them, but they do leak a lot at the back too.
In contrast, Koln, or Cologne, however you like to say it, are flying. Top of 2. Bundesliga, five wins in a row, and seemingly on their way to being promoted back to the Bundesliga at the first attempt.
After losing two of their first three matches after the winter break, they’ve seen off the challenges of Sandhausen, Erzgebirge Aue, Ingolstadt, Arminia Bielefled, and, most recently, Holstein Kiel. The reverse fixture against Heidenheim ended in a 1-1 draw, so it’s more than likely that we’ll see plenty of goals on Sunday too,

Latest Match Odds
They away side are odds on favourites with the bookies at 4/6. Heidenheim are available to back at odds of 4/1, with the draw priced up at 16/5.
1-2. Heidenheim can score goals, but they're pretty leaky at the back. Cologne are not your average side and I think they’ll score a couple here to win the game. They’ve won five in a row. The momentum is with them. It’s the business end of the season. The away side are playing like a top-flight club at the moment and I think they’ll win.
Nothing really sticks out in terms of value, but over 2.5 goals at odds of 4/7 is well worth adding to your weekend accumulator. That’s what I’ll be backing this weekend. Cologne score for fun, and Heidenheim’s last five at home in all competitions has seen over 2.5 goals land. It’s a sensible punt.
