Fresh from their 3-0 win at home to Brighton in midweek, Chelsea welcome London rivals West Ham to Stamford Bridge in front of the Sky cameras on Monday night. Maurizio Sarri’s side need a win to keep in touch with those above them, whereas West Ham’s season is in danger of falling apart if they suffer further embarrassment here.

Chelsea vs West Ham – Form Guide
Chelsea’s recent defeat away at Everton was followed up by a mediocre performance away to Cardiff in a match they probably should have lost if it wasn’t for the officials. Many fans were left bewildered by just how poor their team looked and that young starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi wasn’t getting a look in. I think Sarri heard those cries as the English wonderkid started in midweek and played exceptionally well. Will it be enough to get a starting place on Monday night? We’ll see.
On paper, Chelsea should win this, but they’ve only beaten West Ham once on their own turf since 2014. Are the Hammers a little bit of a bogey side?
West Ham’s form is all over the place. They made Newcastle look like a League Two side only a month ago, but they’ve been embarrassed by Cardiff and Everton since. They managed a win against Huddersfield in between those two defeats, but even that was a struggle.
Pundits are running out of superlatives for Declan Rice in the middle of the park, but he can’t do it all. He needs his teammates to start giving 100% in every game. It’s quite clear that some are thinking about their summer holiday already.
It doesn’t get any easier for West Ham either. They go to Old Trafford after this and they’ve still got to play Spurs away before the end of the season. A top half finish is looking more and more unlikely by the week.
Team News and Predicted Line-ups
With games coming thick and fast for Chelsea, they’re bound to pick up a few niggles along the way. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has a back complaint which could see him miss Monday’s match, whereas Marcos Alonso could make way for Emerson Palmieri once again. It remains to be seen if Callum Hudson-Odoi did enough in midweek to start here, but he could wel be rested for the important Europa League fixture away in Prague on Thursday.
Felipe Anderson, Samir Nasri and Ryan Fredericks were all missing last weekend in the defeat to Everton, but the West Ham trio were all back in training this week. Fabian Balbuena could also make his much-anticipated return from the sidelines on Monday. Many West Ham fans have put their poor form down to the fact that the general’s been missing at the back.
Chelsea Predicted XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson, Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Hazard, Higuain.
West Ham Predicted XI: Fabianski, Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Cresswell, Noble, Rice, Antonio, Anderson, Lanzini, Arnautovic.
Latest Match Odds
West Ham are double-digit outsiders for this one. They’re available at 10/1 to grab all three points on Monday night. Chelsea are clear favourites with the bookies at 3/10, with the draw priced at 9/2.
2-1. West Ham always up their game for Chelsea, but I don’t think they enough to trouble the side from West London. The Blues have a congested fixture list, but the fact they were able to rest a few of their players in midweek will help ahead of Monday’s game. They do have a match three days later, but even a reserve side should be able to go to Prague and get a result. The Hammers will battle hard, but I expect Chelsea to win this.
The last three meetings has seen just three goals scored, but the three before that saw over 2.5 goals land. It’s never easy picking out a bet in a London derby, so I’m going to switch it up for this match. I think West Ham can score, but I feel Chelsea will win, so I’m back Chelsea to win and both teams to score at odds of 9/5.
