Der Klassiker. The German Clasico. The 100th Bundesliga Klassiker in fact. What a match, and it’s happening on Saturday! Bayern Munich welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Allianz Arena this weekend as they look to grab the three points they need to leapfrog their rivals back into top spot in the Bundesliga. This exact fixture last season ended 6-0 to the home side. Surely we won’t see such a one-sided affair this time around?

Bayern vs Dortmund – Form Guide
Bayern narrowly avoided embarrassment in midweek as they saw off Bundesliga 2 side Heidenheim 5-4 in the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal. I can imagine it’s the first ever time Robert Glatzel has scored a hat-trick and been on the losing side. It was an agonising defeat for the away side, but Bayern Munich were pushed to their limit. Could fitness play a part on Saturday? Dortmund, of course, haven’t played since last weekend.
BVB bounced back from an extremely poor February and defeat in the Champions League with three wins in a row. They’ve recently disposed of Stuttgart 3-1 at home, Hertha BSC 3-2 away, and most recently, Wolfsburg 2-0 on home soil. They’ve found their rhythm again just at the right time. Not only that, they returned to the top of the Bundesliga after Bayern were held to a 1-1 draw at Freiburg last Saturday.
They say form goes out of the window in a huge derby, but it’s worth noting that Bayern beat Dortmund 2-1 in the German Cup at home last season. They also did the double over them in the league. However, Dortmund did manage a 3-2 win over their rivals back in November, so they could hold the psychological edge heading into this one.
Team News and Predicted Line-ups
Corentin Tolisso, Arjen Robben, and Alphonso Davies will all be missing for the home side through injury. Other than that, it’s a clean bill of health for Niko Kovac’s side.
As far as Dortmund are concerned, influential defender Achraf Hakimi will miss the rest of the season after he sustained a broken metatarsal in the win over Wolfsburg last weekend. Abdou Diallo will also be absent after he was ruled out with a muscle injury. Christian Pulisic is still nursing a thigh injury. Sorry Dortmund fans, not such great news there!
Bayern Munich Predicted XI: Neuer, Kimmich, Hummels, Sule, Alaba, Thiago, Martinez, Gnabry, Rodriguez, Coman, Lewandowski.
Borussia Dortmund Predicted XI: Burki, Wolf, Akanji, Zagadou, Guerreiro, Delaney, Witsel, Sancho, Brunn Larsen, Reus, Alcacer.
Latest Match Odds
Somewhat surprisingly, Bayern Munich are very short favourites to win this one at 1/2. The bookmakers have priced up Dortmund at 9/2, with the draw available at 18/5.
2-2. Bayern Munich have scored 12 goals in their last two home games in the league. They’ve also won their last seven league games in a row at the Allianz. But they’re up against a side who are desperate to land the title. Dortmund know a point could be enough with the games they have left, so they won’t give too much away. This could still be an open game, but BVB are good enough to come away with a positive result here.
BTTS is short at 8/15, whereas over 2.5 goals is on offer at odds of 4/9. Let’s leave those alone, they’re too short. The bet I like is for the match to be a draw at half time, so that’s what I’m going for. It’s decent odds too at 29/20. Jump on it with me.
