Lille vs Monaco – Recent Form
Lille were on the verge of relegation and financial ruin this time last season, but they now find themselves second in Ligue 1 after a run of three wins and two draws in their last five league games.
They produced a fine display snatch all three points away at Saint-Etienne last weekend. 1-0 it ended. They also won 1-0 the Sunday before that at home to Dijon. Binary lovers will also enjoy the fact they drew the two before that 1-1 and 0-0 to Strasbourg and Montpellier respectively.
Monaco are a completely different side now Thierry Henry has departed. It’s three wins and three draws in their last six, and they’re starting to pull away from the dreaded drop zone they have been toying with all season.
As good as Monaco’s recent form has been, away from home is still a struggle. They’ve not won away in the league since the start of December. Something needs to change soon if they’re to relive their fans of relegation stress that’s been hanging over them for months.
2-1. You have to go way back to April 2016 to find the last time Lille beat Monaco, but Les Dogues are enjoying a wonderful season. If Nicolas Pepe gets a chance on Friday, he’ll take it. He’s been that clinical in front of goal this season. He’s one of the main reasons why Lille find themselves in a Champions League spot.
Monaco are improving, there’s no denying that, but they are still finding it hard away from the Stade Louis II stadium. I think Lille will edge this.
Lille are odds against to beat Monaco on Friday night at 6/5. It’s a price worth taking on as they should really be odds on. There’s a little bit of value there in all honesty. In reality, regardless of how good Monaco have been in the past, it’s second vs seventeenth. In any other league, the home side would be huge favourites. Lille to win at home is the tip here.
