Some superb Turkish players have graced the Premier League down through the years. The likes of Tuncay, Hakan Sukur, Tugay and Emre Belozoglu all played in England at some point in their careers. They were all capable of producing moments of magic and Everton have unearthed another terrific Turk in Cenk Tosun.
Signed from Besiktas during the transfer window Tosun gave a glimpse of what was to come on his Everton debut. The Toffees lost 4-0 to Spurs that day at Wembley, but Tosun came out of the match with great credit. He ran himself into the ground, showing an excellent work ethic, and it is no surprise that the goals are starting to flow.
Ferguson: Tosun Settling In At Everton
Big Duncan Ferguson is an institution at Goodison Park and The Blues legend likes what he sees in Cenk Tosun. He is on Everton's coaching staff and he had this to say about Tosun: “He's settling in well. I think it took him a bit of time to adjust to the Premier League but he's looking good.”
“We're obviously made up that he's scored a few goals now. Hopefully that continues. He can be a success if he keeps on working hard, we keep on giving him the supply. I think he can score goals for us.”
Widemen Must Deliver
The Turkish International is a big man and one of his biggest strengths is his heading ability. It is massively important that he gets quality service from out wide. With Coleman and Baines whipping in crosses he should have no shortage of supply from out on the flanks.
Tosun is more than just a target man though, as his thunderous finish against Brighton showed. He has scored 4 goals now, one with his left foot, one with his right and the other two with his head. After a difficult first few months Tosun has adapted to the Premier League, and he is going to be a handful for opposing defences next season.
