As the vultures circle at Man Utd awaiting the demise of Jose Mourinho, news was released today regarding Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The big Swede made a massive impact in his debut season at the club, but it was cut short by a cruciate ligament knee injury.
He has made just a handful of appearances this season. So, it is no real surprise to see him heading for the hills. Los Angeles is his next destination and he will surely fit in well. He can leave Manchester with his head held high, and he will enjoy one last big payday at LA Galaxy.
Zlatan Made His Mark At Man Utd
Ibrahimovic has never been a man short on confidence and he brought an arrogance to Utd last season. He managed a more than respectable 28 goals in all competitions and he was the club's top scorer. Players like Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will have benefited hugely from playing with him too.
In a short statement released by the club today they confirmed Zlatan's departure. It read: “Man Utd confirms that it has agreed to the termination of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract with immediate effect. Everyone at the club would like to thank Zlatan for his contribution to the team since his arrival and wishes him well for the future.”
In a career spanning 19 years Zlatan has made his mark in International and club football. Since making his debut for Malmo in 1999 he has made 721 appearances for Ajax, Juve, Inter, Barca, AC Milan, PSG and Man Utd. He scored 421 goals, meaning he hit the target every 1.71 games.
Zlatan was a huge figure for Sweden too. He is their all time leading scorer with 62 goals from 116 games. He won almost every major honour in European Football, apart from the Champions League. In a long and illustrious career that will be his big regret but even so, it will be a long time before the football world forgets about the legend that is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
