Old Lady Shows Experience As Tottenham Bow Out

It was heartbreak for swashbuckling Spurs at Wembley on Wednesday as their Champions League dream died. However, Tottenham made memories they will never forget during this campaign. A superb draw at the Bernabeu, a win in Dortmund and a famous victory at Wembley vs Real Madrid will go down in Spurs' folklore.

Tottenham will be getting fed up of the tag of ‘gallant losers' though, and they need to win some silverware. With City out of sight in the Premier League the FA Cup looks like their best chance of a trophy. After tonight's bitter disappointment, Pochettino will be going all out to win it.

Tottenham Mistakes Prove Costly

When Son put Spurs 1-0 up in the first half Juventus looked in big trouble. However, Massimo Allegri's tactical tweaks worked wonders in the 2nd half. Two Juventus goals in three minutes turned the tie on it's head. It was a stunning sequence of play, and once Juve got in front it was hard to see them relinquishing the lead.

Mauricio Pochettino was understandably proud of his players afterwards. He said: “Only I can say that I am happy with my players. I think we gave everything to try to win. If you don’t create chances and you lose to a team that is better than you then you can say you need more quality or this and that.”

“But if you compete at the same level today as a team that played two finals in three years in this competition, only you can be proud and understand that in football sometimes you cannot win in certain circumstances.”

Crunch Time For Spurs

Some of Europe's biggest clubs are sure to be interested in Tottenham's best players this summer. The likes of Kane, Alli, Eriksen and Son will be in high demand. Daniel Levy's resolve will be sorely tested. He has claimed that the club are in a position to keep all their best players.

However, as Spurs have shown in the past, if a big offer comes in they are not afraid to take it. Tottenham are not far off being a top class side right now. What happens in the next transfer window could determine if they will go on to reach their full potential.
