The battle for a top 4 Premier League finish is really hotting up these last few weeks. With Man City out of reach the fight is on for 2nd, and on Saturday Liverpool held that position. They beat Newcastle 2-0 at Anfield, while a 2-0 win for Tottenham vs Huddersfield opened up a 5 point gap to Chelsea in 5th.
The Blues have to take on Man City at The Etihad on Sunday, and it is now almost a must win match for Chelsea. Tottenham are in pole position for 4th now, and they will have their sights set on an even higher finiish.
Tottenham Feeling More At Home At Wembley
It has taken a while, but finally Tottenham are comfortable playing their home matches at Wembley. Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the media after the win vs Huddersfield and revealed his thoughts on their home form. He said: “I am so pleased.”
“I think it's a fantastic run at home. We can say Wembley is our home and that is so important for the team. Since the beginning of the season and last season we used to play here in the Champions League or Europa League. It was a strange feeling, a difficult feeling.”
Some Tricky Tests To Come For Spurs
Tottenham will be hoping their strong home form continues this week with Juventus coming to town. A thrilling 2-2 draw in Turin puts Spurs in pole position in the tie because of the away goal rule. They know that if they can keep a clean sheet it will see them through.
Pochettino deserves huge credit for the job he has done at Spurs. Without spending fortunes he has turned them into real Champions League contenders. Real Madrid couldn't beat them in the Group Stage, and a 2-2 draw away to Juventus isn't a bad result either. In fact, it would take a brave person to bet against them going all the way.
