All the focus in the last couple of weeks has been on the fractious relationship between Mourinho and Pogba. With Man Utd heading to Spain to take on Sevilla on Wednesday night, the result will hopefully be the main talking point. However, Pogba and Mourinho will need to put their little spat behind them if Utd are to progress.
The Red Devils are miles off the lead in the Premier League, 16 points behind Man City with 11 games left. The FA Cup and Champions League remain their best hopes of silverware, but they can't afford to take Sevilla lightly. Just ask Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.
Pogba To Return For Man Utd
Jose Mourinho faced the media earlier today in the pre Sevilla match press conference. He confirmed Pogba was available for selection again. Mourinho stated: “I opened training today and in a period where we normally don't open. We normally do warming-up and the simple drills.”
He continued: “When the player is in that competitive situation it is because they are normally ready and without problems. You could see in that training some people who didn't play v Huddersfield like Pogba, Valencia, Rashford, Herrera. So I think in an objective way you could look at it.”
Banega Back For Sevilla
Ever Banega is a key creative force for Sevilla and he would have been a huge loss for them against Man Utd. However, he trained with the squad on Sunday and it looks like he will be ready to start. That is not good news for Man Utd, as he has the game to exploit their weaknesses in midfield.
For all Pogba's attacking talent his lack of defensive nous can leave gaps in midfield. Banega is a master at finding those little pockets of space. If Utd are to avoid defeat it could come down to Nemanja Matic keeping tabs on the Argentinian schemer. If he gets space to operate he has the quality to make Utd pay.
