One transfer that really caught our eye in January was the move of Lucas Moura from PSG to Tottenham. The tricky Brazilian fell out of favour in Paris after the arrivals of Neymar and Mbappe. A lack of game time and an upcoming World Cup were reasons enough for Moura to head to London.
He may find it hard to force his way into the Tottenham line up too, and he is yet to start a game. However, his manager revealed that he would be getting a chance to impress in the FA Cup tie vs Rochdale.
Moura An Explosive Talent
Although Mauricio Pochettino was initially cautious about bigging up his new man he was more bullish about him on Friday. In his press conference Pochettino spoke about Moura, saying: “He has the capacity one vs one. He’s so explosive and fast, he’s strong”.
Pochettino added: “Of course he’s an exciting name for our fans. He came from PSG, a big club. But it’s different to signing Neymar, Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. He has some qualities that will be good for the team.”
FA Cup Not A Priority For Poch
Tottenham are fighting tooth and nail for a top 4 Premier League finish, whilst they are still alive in the Champions League too. Spurs haven't got a massive squad like some of their rivals, so Pochettino will have to prioritise.
For obvious reasons, the Premier League has to come first for Tottenham. Changes are very likely for Sunday's trip to Rochdale and Pochettino explained why he thinks the FA Cup is not his main aim. He said:
“You can maybe win the FA Cup, League Cup, if you say, ‘OK, in five years, we are going to win the FA Cup or League Cup.' Then you protect your best player for the FA Cup, forget the Premier League, and forget being in the top-four. We need to think about winning big trophies like the Champions League.”
