Pep Guardiola said it was too soon for talk of a quadruple tilt by Man City last week. However, after a comfortable FA Cup win vs Burnley at the weekend the dream is one step closer. Leroy Sane caused The Clarets all sorts of problems, and Guardiola waxed lyrical about him after the match.
The young German winger has taken the Premier League by storm, and the scary thing is that at just 21 there could be a lot more to come. Guardiola certainly thinks so, and he holds the former Schalke man in the highest of regard.
Guardiola: Sane A Special Talent
Speaking to the media in the build up to the upcoming League Cup semi final vs Bristol, Pep spoke about Sane. He said: “He has a special talent. Of course it was important to score another goal. We need his goals, but also his assists, crosses, how he defends backwards.”
Guardiola went on to remind Sane that he still had plenty to work on. He continued: “He made a lot of very good things but at 21, 22 years old – I met only one player in my life at that age who knew absolutely everything and he could do absolutely everything. The other guys have many, many things to improve, and Leroy especially.”
Trophies Important For Pep
Although Guardiola prides himself on the brand of football that City play, he isn't forgetting the importance of delivering silverware. City can take a big step towards a first trophy by beating Bristol City over two legs in their upcoming League Cup semi final.
He knows City are playing catch up with clubs that have richer histories when it comes to trophies. Speaking about the Bristol City match he said: “A win helps to win more, then we are there, going to go to London to play the final.”
“It's important (to win trophies). To become a big club like the teams I have faced, or teams like (Manchester) United or Liverpool, with a really big history, you have to win.
