There are 16 places and 22 points between Chelsea and West Ham in the Premier League table. However, Antonio Conte is expecting a tough game at London Stadium on Saturday. The Blues are in top form at the moment, winning 6 of their last 7 and beating Newcastle 3-1 last weekend. West Ham have yet to win under new boss David Moyes, but they showed signs of a revival last week at Man City.
Conte Taking Nothing For Granted
Conte thinks that West Ham are a lot better than they have shown so far this season. He will be taking nothing for granted at London Stadium on Saturday. Speaking to the media on Friday Conte said: “I must be honest, West Ham have a lot of good players with a lot of talent and are very physical. It is strange to see them in this position in the table.”
“They have the possibility to do better. I hope not from tomorrow but after our game. This team is a really good team with good players. When asked if he was surprised that West Ham have struggled Conte replied: “Yes, I am to be honest. They have good players.” There is no doubt that the West Ham squad looks strong on paper. They just have not produced the goods on the pitch.
Luiz Future Unclear
The Blues have a couple of injuries to overcome on Saturday. Out of favour David Luiz remains sidelined and Danny Drinkwater is also doubtful due to illness. Conte refused to be drawn on Luiz, telling the press: “I think now is not the right moment to speak about this. There are a lot of games before the transfer window and now is not the right time.
Luiz played a central part in Chelsea's title win last season. However, he is obviously deemed surplus to requirements now. He allegedly had a massive bust up with Conte after their defeat in Rome and he has not featured since. He is sure to have plenty of suitors in January and it will be interesting to see where the Brazilian ends up.
