Claude Puel has made a big impact since taking over from Craig Shakespeare at The King Power. Questions were asked when the French manager was appointed, but it looks a shrewd move by the Leicester hierarchy. The Foxes have lost just once during his short reign and March Albrighton has impressed Puel. He was on the bench for Leicester's first few games, but he reacted in the right way and hasn't looked back since.
Ambitious Albrighton Working Hard
Puel appreciates the effort put in by the winger and he spoke to the press after their 1-0 weekend win. Puel said: “It was difficult at the beginning because he was a starting player. The first couple of games were difficult for him but it is never finished with me if a player shows his quality.”
“It is important to reward him if he deserves it. Sometimes when not playing the player can come back with ambition after disappointment. He works a lot. We see that a lot on the pitch. I think it is a good thing for him to improve because we need a completed squad with all the players to play these games. It is important to offer different solutions.”
Leicester's only defeat in their last 9 matches came against runaway Premier League leaders Man City. Wins against Spurs and high flying Burnley in the last two gameweeks leave them in 8th place. They have a League Cup quarter final against Man City to look forward to this month too.
Although Leicester are unlikely to repeat their title heroics of two seasons ago, European football is not out of the question. If the Foxes continue in such fantastic form who knows where they might end up. They face Newcastle, Southampton and Palace next in the EPL and after that run of winnable games they could be in the top 6.
