Despite recent away defeats to Watford and Man City, Granit Xhaka says Arsenal can still challenge for the Premier League. The Swiss playmaker has started every game for The Gunners this season. He believes his team can still mount a title challenge, even with Arsenal 12 points off the top.
Xhaka: Everything Is Possible
In an interview with Sky Sports Xhaka stated: “I think in football everything is possible. Manchester City, at the moment, are on a very good run. They're doing very well and others have dropped points. But it's conceivable that they could drop points as well.”
“They might not continue as they have been. But our aim is just to focus on ourselves. We know we need to work and we're convinced that we can compete at the top.Everything's possible, I'm a person who thinks realistically but has dreams and fantasies as well. In football, everything is always possible.”
Gunners Misfiring Away From Home
Although Arsenal's home form has been top class, their away results have not been up to scratch. They have won just 1 of their 5 away matches in the EPL this season. A 5-2 win at Arsenal and 0-0 draw at Chelsea remain the only points they have gained away from The Emirates.
Arsenal have lost 4 from 6 away from home, including defeats at Watford and Stoke. That is way below the level required of potential Premier League challengers. Unless The Gunners start to improve dramatically on their travels, it is going to be a long season for the Arsenal faithful.
