Paul Pogba returned from injury with a bang against Newcastle and he is in bullish mood after that win. The flamboyant Frenchman says the return of Ibrahimovic and Rojo can help Utd to win the Premier League.
Injured Stars Return
In an interview with MUTV Pogba said: “To win the league we need all our players. When you have one injured here, one injured there, it doesn't help. It's always better to have a full team.
“Zlatan's back and Marcos (Rojo) after a long injury. It was hard for them but they kept believing and worked hard to come back. We need them to win the league and we're really glad they're here.”
Pogba's Influence Vital
Pogba missed out on all of Man Utd's poorest performances this season. He didn't play in the turgid 0-0 draw at Anfield or the 1-0 loss at Stamford Bridge. He was also missing for the embarrassing 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield. The midfielder provided an assist and scored a goal on his return in the 4-1 win vs Newcastle.
That illustrates just how important Pogba is for Mourinho and Man Utd. The jury is out on whether Zlatan can get back to his best at his age after such a serious injury. Marcos Rojo's return is undoubtedly a big plus as he was rock solid at the back last season. If it will be enough for Utd to catch up with Man City remains to be seen.
Negative Tactics Could Cost Utd
A bigger problem for Man Utd this season has been their performances away from home against the top 6. Utd were awful at Anfield and also at Chelsea and Mourinho needs to be more ambitious in these fixtures.
It is simply not in Mourinho's DNA to attack in these sort of matches. That conservative approach has brought him success in the past, but with City flying he may well have to change tack if Utd are to win the Premier League this season.
