Paddy Power

Paddy Power history

The company was created in 1988 as a result of a merger of three existing Irish bookmakers. The aim of the deal was to strengthen their performance  and market presence. Which you can now say was a successful move.

Paddy Power grew from strength to strength and in 2010 already operated 256  retails shops out of which 209 were located in Ireland and 139 in the UK.  Most recently Paddy expanded its operations also to Australia with acquisition of Sportbet and IAS.

In 2010, turnover was over €3.83 billion, up 39% on 2009. Underlying operating profit was €103.8 million, an increase of 48% on 2009.

Current operations

Currently Paddy Power operates in nine distribution channels. They have 212 shops in Ireland and 107 shops in the UK. They accept bets by phone through their telephone-betting department and are available online under a few  domains including paddypower.com and it’s casino, games, poker and bingo  sites. Apart from that Paddy offers pretty solid mobile and tablet
solutions.

The company is located in Dublin with its offices also in the UK, Australia  and Isle of Men. It’s recently known from it’s really smart and creative marketing approach  which includes the already famous Paddy Power pants presented by Niclas  Bendtner during the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine. Their Twitter  and other social media profiles are also among the most popular ones in the  industry.

Paddy supports all the classic payment methods most frequently used in the  UK including credit cards, neteller, skrill and paypal.
